David Howell draws with World Champion
11-year-old Ashtead Chess Club board 1, David Howell, took on World Classical Chess Champion, Vladimir Kramnik. The four 5-minute 'blitz' chess match, staged by Einstein Group plc., took place at the English Speaking Union, off Berkeley Square, London W1.
Vladimir won the match by taking the first three games but, by achieving a draw in the final game, David set a world record for the youngest person ever to have scored against a reigning World Champion in single combat. In recognition of his achievement, David was awarded the Einstein trophy.
